I’m not sure what I was expecting when I saw Oxylife bleach advertisement with a girl model with her real name. I suppose I thought it would be more personal, like maybe she was an everyday person who just happened to have beautiful skin. But instead, it’s the same as every other advertisement. The girl is perfect and flawless, and her skin makes me feel like I’m looking at a magazine cover. It kind of bothers me that her name is used in the ad but she’s not given any credit for being the model. She’s just a face- nothing more.

Conclusion paragraph: While it’s unclear whether or not the ad will be pulled, it has certainly started a conversation. The model in the ad, 17-year-old Thylane Blondeau, is no stranger to controversy; she was named “the most beautiful girl in the world” by French Vogue at age 6. Whether you believe that this level of sexualization at such a young age is appropriate or not, one thing is for sure: Oxylife is getting attention. And as we all know, any publicity is good publicity.
